Sherwin-Williams announced its 2020 Color of the Year – Naval. Naval is a deep twist on classic navy blue, and it was chosen in part for its references to the sea and the night sky.
Navy blue is always associated with all things noble, wisdom and tranquility. Navy can be a great alternative to jet black as they create the same elegance, calming and masculine vibe while adding warmth and depth without feeling too gothic.
Darker walls in small spaces can have a dramatic and space-opening effect, thus navy blue can be used in almost every area of the house. To balance out the dark colour, add in some bright accents or pop colour decoration and furniture. Dusty Windsor Pink, Warm bright Yellow, and shades of purple are colours that can pair well with Navy. Earth-toned furniture or wood flooring goes especially well with a rich Navy wall. Add in a bronze decoration against a navy wall to bring out the classic and classy effect while pairing navy blue with silver adds a hint of luxury and maturity.
